Zensical¶

What would a static site generator look like if we had the freedom to design one from scratch, to re-think every design decision that has previously been made?

I was lucky to be able to accompany @squidfunk, known as the creator of Material for MkDocs, on such a journey of discovery as we created Zensical together.

We produced a next-generation static site generator with a completely modular and scalable architecture. It allows us to scale to very large projects while still offering a batteries-included experience. This, together with a gentle learning curve and MIT licensing, makes Zensical unique in the SSG market.

@squidfunk also created Zensical Studio, an editing environment that makes working on larger projects using the Docs-as-Code approach much more effective as it provides project-aware reference management (not just links), linting, formatting, Markdown preview, and more. With such an unprecedented editing experience, the Zensical stack is a complete solution for technical writing.

While I now focus on my own projects, I remain a regular contributor to Zensical.
